We have made great strides in bringing this abandoned cemetery to a state where visitors can stop by and actually move about the cemetery, but we are far from done! In previous years we cleared all the invasive honeysuckle from the front and cleaned out most of the interior, and then came back to clean along the north and south fence lines. This year we will tackle the western fence line, which will really enhance the view of the cemetery from Kentucky 19.
We’ll need chainsaws and brush cutters, and folks to help pull away the cuttings. Weed eaters are also a good item to bring to give the cemetery a nice look before the Veteran’s Day weekend.
There are two Civil War and two Revolutionary War soldiers buried in the cemetery, along with several other citizens. Let’s show them respect and show that they are not forgotten.
Wear work clothing and sturdy footwear. We’ll work for a few hours and then hit the town for cold beer.
